The Illustration Bazaar is a celebration of the art and artists of illustration consisting of markets, exhibitions, installations and much more.

The Bazaar is a place to interact with illustrators, understand their process and the meaning behind each piece of art, and purchase/get some art pieces for yourselves.

The Bazaar is a spectacle of fun and play for all to enjoy and see illustration beyond the books and the screens.

MISSION

Our mission is to build a thriving ecosystem for illustrators in Nigeria by:

  • Providing platforms for illustrators and collaborators to connect with customers and stakeholders, humanizing the industry and fostering collaboration.
  • Creating spaces where younger and older generations can experience inspiration and nostalgia — proving that illustration are for all age brackets.
  • Equipping artists with tools, and networks to sustain careers.
  • Inspiring students to embrace illustration as a medium of self-expression, creativity, innovation, and livelihood
  • Shaping cultural narratives that position illustration at the center of Africa’s creative economy.

THE PROBLEM

Illustrators play a critical role in storytelling across music, gaming, animation, comics, storybooks, design, toys, and beyond. Yet:

  • The value illustrators bring to the creative ecosystem is under recognised.
  • They are often under-recognized in the broader creative industry.
  • Without dedicated platforms and spaces, their cultural and economic contributions remain undervalued.
  • At a time when the creative economy is booming, there are no robust initiatives advocating for the right policies for illustrators in the evolving creative landscape.

THE SOLUTION

The Illustration Bazaar is designed to change this narrative by offering:

  • A vibrant marketplace for illustrators to sell and showcase their work.
  • Talks, workshops, and live drawing sessions to build skill, confidence, and knowledge.
  • Commissioned installations that merge art with storytelling.
  • Family-friendly spaces to inspire younger generations and widen the audience for illustration.
