Open Calls for The Illustration Bazaar

Calling all illustrators and image makers from Nigeria, Africa and the World to be part of the inaugural edition of The Illustration Bazaar, to be held at Landmark, Lagos, Nigeria on 4–6 April 2026.

The Illustration Bazaar is a celebration of the art and artists of illustration, a platform to show the integral nature of the work in our society.

This is an event organised by the Illustrator Cohort and Umuala Collective, in collaboration with Pride Creative Enterprise and Multimedia Limited (PCEML) and Precise Platform Limited.

Apply to be able to meet fans of your work, connect with collectors and new audiences, and sell your pieces.

Submit a portfolio of 5 works. Selected artists would pay a small fee for the booths, with members of the Illustrator Cohort receiving a 25% discount.

Selected applicants should be on ground for the festival for all three days. The booth costs ₦150,000 for individuals, with members of the Illustrator Cohort getting a 25% discount. For groups, the booth costs ₦250,000, and for commercial entities ₦2,000,000.

Submit proposals for exhibiting a cohesive body of work at the Bazaar. Proposals should include the following:
  • Bio (250 words max.)
  • An artist statement (500 words max.)
  • Portfolio of 10–15 works reflecting the idea for the exhibition
  • CV (max. 4 pages)

This is your chance to showcase illustration beyond screens and pages by bringing them to life in 3D. Proposal should include the following:
  • Bio (250 words max.)
  • An artist statement (500 words max.)
  • Portfolio of 5–10 works reflecting the idea for the installation
  • CV (max. 4 pages)
  • Installation Proposal with Project description (max. 2 pages);Technical specifications (max. 2 pages); Detailed Budget; and Timeline

Artworks

  • No AI Art
  • Applicants must be the rightful creators of their works, ensuring originality without plagiarism or imitation of others’ creations.
  • We welcome a diverse range of illustrated work, including (but not limited to) hand drawings, digital drawings, picture books, collages, character IP, tattoo art, and doodle art.
  • High resolution Images (JPG or PNG), 300dpi

Application Categories

  • Individual: Single artist application.
  • Group: Showcase featuring up to 4 collaborating artists, collectives or a studio team.
  • Commercial Booth: Reserved for agencies, institutions, brands, and official sponsors.

Terms and Conditions

All submissions will undergo a review by our selection committee. The decision of the committee is final.

Submitted artworks will be used for marketing materials, which include (but are not limited to) official event posters, social media postings, and wall stickers. They will not be used as merchandise or art prints without your explicit, written consent.

For exhibitions and installations, execution is subject to funding.
